The Future Skills Program
With this program we will help you get into the right career early and join the top 1% of earners.
We achieve this is by enabling you to make better decisions in your career and finances.
Making the right decisions is the foundation of everything you do and the outcome you eventually get.

Better decisions equal more career satisfaction, better finances and an overall better life.

And the earlier you make good decisions, the better your outcome will be.

Making good decisions early in life is what enabled Mikael Syding, Ludvig Sunstrom and I (Oskar Faarkrog) to achieve a life full of freedom from an early age.

For years, none of us have used an alarm clock or had a boss telling us what to do.

We live life on our own terms, doing what we want every single day.
Mikael retired at age 42 as a decamillionaire and Ludvig and I have been location independent running our own business since our early age 20s.

If we want to take a year off work, we can do that. (Of course there's some maintenance work that always has to be done, but we're talking 1-2 hours per day at most).

And we want to help you achieve the same level of career satisfaction, freedom and success that we have achieved.

The Future Skills Program is the program we wish we had when we started our career and wanted to put a dent in the world.
On this program you will learn the following:
  • Module 1: Specialization > Choose your initial area of specialization or go the entrepreneurship route. (6 VIDEOS + PDF).
  • Module 2a: Advanced career advice (first half) > Get a deeper understanding of the different paths of specialization and entrepreneurship to ensure you make the right choice. (3 VIDEOS + PDF).
  • Module 2b: Advanced career advice (second half) > How to retain your edge over your competition and when to change jobs. (3 VIDEOS + PDF)
  • Module 3a: General career advice (first half) > How to make yourself more valuable in the job market and find the right opportunity for your skillset. (3 VIDEOS + PDF).
  • Module 3b: General career advice (second half) > Specific steps to take before changing jobs. (2 VIDEOS + PDF).
  • Module 4: How to build a network > Specific steps to take to build a strong network (business contacts + mentors) and how to balance work with social life. (4 VIDEOS + PDF).
  • Module 5: Finance > Mikael Syding’s investing framework that he used to outperform the market with 600% over 10 years. (16 VIDEOS + PDF).
  • Homework assignments for every video. Reflect and apply what you've learned.
  • 2 rounds of coaching where you get thorough personal feedback from either Mikael Syding, Ludvig Sunstrom or I (Oskar Faarkrog). Get detailed personal feedback on your homework assignments from us.
The program consists of 37 videos which will be sent to you on a biweekly basis from 15 March 2020-3 January 2021 (2 videos every 2 weeks for a total of 9 months).

The time-commitment is estimated at around 30-60 minutes every 2 weeks, therefore it's not a very time-intensive program. It's a program that you can follow as an add-on to a full time job and any existing studies you may have.

All videos are accompanied by detailed text documents and homework assignments. So you can both read and watch, to better internalize the ideas.

What are the entry requirements for the Future Skills Program?

The question we get the most is whether you already need to know the area you want to work in to get the most benefit from the program.

During the first 3 videos in the specialization module, we have a variety of homework assignments that help you identify what area and specialization you should work in.

Our students from Round 1 have often mentioned that they found these homework assignments to be of huge value for finding their area of specialization.

Here’s an example:

Hi Oskar

Just wanted to say a big thanks as I have recently started at a Behavioural Economics consultancy doing a split of new client acquisition and consulting work!

This was one of the top careers I defined for myself whilst going through the Future Skills program so far. It makes use of my previous experience, talents and also one of my main interests - psychology.

It feels like a purposeful career, and one in which I can build a solid skillset. Thank you for all your feedback on my responses as they helped me clarify what I wanted from the role and I believe this came through strongly in the different interview stages.

Now I probably need to go back through all the lessons and apply them to this new role!

Best,

Jamie

In addition to the homework assignments, you will get personal feedback on your answers.

Halfway into the program (4.5 months) you will get personal feedback on your homework answers from either Mikael Syding, Ludvig Sunstrom or I (Oskar Faarkrog).

We all read through your homework answers, and since we come from a variety of backgrounds, we can choose who would be best able to help you depending on your chosen area of specialization.

The answers we give is very thorough and valuable.

Here’s an example of an answer from Mikael Syding to a student who struggled with choosing between the specialization or entrepreneurship path:

Homework assignment: Do you believe the entrepreneurship or specialist path is best? Do you have a high need for certainty?

Student answer: I don’t know whether I have a high need for certainty. I enjoy going to random events and trying new things, but can be quite risk-averse too. What is the best way to find out? Considering doing a PhD at some point, but I’d like to work for a bit first to see what else is out there. Don’t want to be one of those people doing a PhD because they’ve never tried anything else. I definitely like autonomy, as long there is some sort of goal or meaning to it. I am also more of a generalist than a specialist - does that make entrepreneurship the best path? Consulting or working on a project basis seems best for me at the moment as a long-term direction.

Mikael Syding feedback: From what I have seen so far of your answers and your TEDx you are highly capable and multi-talented. If you're able to claim the stage in the manner you did, and have the grit to rehearse and prepare your speech until it's as fluent and engaging as it was, you definitely are fit to be a leader of some sort. It could be as an entrepreneur or in somebody else's company. You say you don't know if you require certainty, but I'm quite certain you don't - at least not in a way that would limit your ability to thrive in an environment with unknown variables.

You don't need a PhD to achieve what you want to achieve, you don't need the diploma to get where you want to be, except if it's to be hired by a firm that requires a PhD to even consider the application - and you shouldn't want to work there anyway. I'd say you start working, and once you notice how little people know and the low level they function at, you start your own company and do things better. All the while you could research the topics you otherwise would have done a PhD on, possibly faster, deeper and wider than you could in an academic setting.

Therefore, the first 3 videos and homework assignments of the program are ideal for those of you who don’t know what to specialize in or whether you should go the entrepreneurship path.

Then after those 3 videos and homework assignments, we go deeper with advanced career advice, general career advice, how to build a network and finance.

The course overview is as follows:

Throughout the whole program you get homework assignments to ensure you have a deep understanding of all the contents and reflect on how it applies to your life.

Then later you get feedback on it all.

Do you need to go through the whole program?

The program consists of 5 modules.

The first 4 modules are our career framework.

Here's a summary of the career framework again:

The career modules are interconnected and consist of 21 videos which make up the first half of the program (4.5/9 months).

Finance is the last module, consists of 16 videos and is scheduled to run for the last 4.5 months of the program.

We recommend that everyone goes through the first 4 modules which make up the career framework (specialization, advanced career advice, general career advice and networking) because after these 4 modules are finished we give you personal feedback on your career path.

This feedback gives you a deeper understanding of your career.

With that said, we don’t recommend that everyone goes through the finance part of the program.

It is meant as a framework for those of you who are already at the stage of investing (or getting into it soon).

Therefore it is much more advanced, however you can always stop your subscription before the finance part starts.

Alternatively you can study Mikael’s way of thinking about making decisions and managing risk (it applies to most areas of life anyways), and then save your notes and videos for later when you become an investor.

How the subscription works:

Every 2 weeks you receive roughly 2 videos and PDF text documents with home assignments.

Some weeks there will be 3-4 if the videos are shorter and other weeks there will be 1 if the video is very long.

In the end, it all equals out and you get a good 10-15 minutes of videos each time full of actionable advice you can start applying right away (no filler).

We have spent nearly half a year on reflecting and deciding what lessons are the most important to include in the videos, therefore you are not getting any filler.

Once per month, you’re charged 97 USD and you can cancel your subscription at any time.

Each 97 USD payment covers 2 bi-weekly video send outs.

What our alumni are saying

An important part of a great career is finding mentors or even peers to connect with. The part of the program on networking was helpful because of the homework that was provided. In one exercise I went through the list of people I wanted to get to know in my ideal field (machine learning and NLP), and made a strategy of reaching out to them. I was able to receive useful advice from a self-taught machine learning engineer from a well-known technology company. Although not everyone replied to me, I now have a long-term strategy for connecting with people I want to know.

I joined the program because I was in the beginning stages of a career shift from healthcare into software development. Although I had a general idea of the technical skills I wanted to develop, I knew that having a great career was not just about technical skills. It includes deciding things like what to specialize in, and what mentors to find.

It was an easy decision to join the Program because I was a long-time reader of Mikael and Ludvig's blogs, and a listener of their podcast. I knew that they spoke from experience and long periods of study. Their advice has helped me in many occasions as well.

The videos were clear and since each only covered a specific idea, it was easy to follow along. The videos and homework assignments of the Future Skills Program complemented each other quite nicely. Since both Mikael and Ludvig would reply after each time I submitted my homework, it really forced me to think clearly about my homework answers and write succinctly. Their answers to the homework questions was a crucial part of the course.

I spend a lot of time reflecting on the assignments I get from you. Future Skills Program has helped me incredibly much in my personal progress and in finding my strengths and figuring out how I can make better use of them. You have helped me more than I can ever explain. I hope to be able to remain in contact with you for a long time going forward.

-Camilla Holmström
You guys are together with my partner the best source of positive energy. Future Skills Program is a good antidote to avoid losing momentum. Every FSP-homework takes about 2+2h for me to complete (should be 30+30min, I know), but this is very valuable to me, hence the extra effort.

I recognize that what you guys are doing here is a massive work and giving so much time and effort to us all is very generously.

- Andreas Thorsson Aaro
As mentioned earlier, spots for the program close on 10 March 2020 and will be closed for at least 1 year after.

Who is the program for?
The program is for those of you who want to do the hard work required to become the top 1% performers in your line of work.

Ideally, you’ll already be done with your formal education, so that you’re either looking for work, building a business, already deep into your career or an investor.
Who is the program not for?
If you’re still in high school or the early years of university, this program may not be right for you, however we emphasize may because the earlier you get started planning out your career the better.

Ludvig, Mikael and Oskar personally started planning out their career around age 19 however if you have no idea about what field you want to work in, this program may not make a lot of sense for you.
What do you get after signing up?
The program consists of 37 videos. All videos are accompanied by detailed text documents. So you can both read and watch, to better internalize the ideas and Mikael Syding's financial framework and Ludvig's career advice.

You will receive 2 videos with their accompanying PDFs every 2 weeks through email.

Half way into the program (4.5 months) you will get personal feedback to all your homework answers from one of us and then you will get it again at the end of the program.

At the end of the program you will also receive a certificate of completion that you can use for your CV to show you have learned our finance and career framework.
How long are the videos in length?
Most of the videos are around 4-7 minutes in length with the longest being 16 minutes.

The videos are straight to the point with actionable advice you can start implementing today. There’s no filler content.
How long time do you need to spend on the program every 2 weeks?
The time-commitment is estimated at around 30-60 minutes every 2 weeks, therefore it's not a very time-intensive program. It's a program that you can follow as an add-on to a full time job and any existing studies you may have.

Don't be fooled though, the minimum time-commitment needed is not proportional to the value you receive. Our students have time and time again praised us for spending extra time on going through the videos and homework assignments to internalize the lessons because they believe these lessons are crucial for their career and finances.
How long time does the program take to complete?
The whole program will take 9 months to complete but you can stop at any time.
How does the subscription work?
After you sign up you’re charged 97 USD once per month on the date you signed up.

The charges will be for a maximum of 9 months (the amount of time the program lasts).

You can cancel your subscription at any time by sending us an email at admin@futureskillspodcast.com
What is unique inside this program which can’t be found for free online or in our podcast?
The contents in this program are similar to the contents in our podcast, however they go much deeper and provide you with a full framework to work from.
Does the program produce real, measurable results?
We have so far only had one run of the program and our students have already reported results such as getting into their dream line of work.
Is it possible to get access to all the contents all at once instead of going through the program for 9 months?
We made the program last 9 months because we want you to have sufficient time to take notes, do the homework properly -- and do all of this while applying what you learn in this program, working hard on your career, investing and/or studies.

With that said, if you want to get access to all contents at once, you can do so by contacting us at admin@futureskillspodcast.com then we will give you a 20% discount so you can pay for the entire program up front.
Why should you trust us?
You can look us up on social media and Google, check out our articles and videos, then come back and purchase the program when you're ready.
Got any questions not answered here? Feel free to contact us through the helpdesk in your bottom right corner and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
